Imagining a Better World... One Song at a TIme
EPK Bio — Long Version
Brad Borch had lots of musical exposure growing up: church choir (son of a preacher), piano lessons (kicking and screaming), school band (trombone), high school talent show (Bread's "If"), Christian rock band (“Forerunner”), college band (“The Mission”). Not to mention “dinking” on guitar since he was 15. But he never felt he had anything unique to say.
Brad had long wanted to record a handful of his songs, a “bucket list” vanity project. When he started he discovered a knack for writing uplifting, fun songs about life, consciousness, and faith. Friends told him they really liked them, so he kept writing, and the result was a torrent of new songs — nearly 50 that year.
When COVID happened, as the months of bad news, masks, lockdowns, mandates and vaccines wore on, it became clear that the disease — and the narrative around it — were just an excuse for corporations and governments to capitalize on fear and seize more power. That's why many of his songs are about fighting oppression. But as important as protest is, we can only create as wonderful a world as we can imagine.
Brad really enjoys the process of songwriting. He enjoys crafting his lyrics. You could say his songs are about space — the space between his ears, the space between what people do and what they say, the space between his and the people he loves, the space between “us” and “them”.
Musically he’s a chameleon, getting inspiration from a beat or chord progression. A friend recently told him he thought one of his songs was cross between Bob Dylan and The Beatles. He writes funky bluesy stuff with a heavy beat — but also beautiful or melancholy songs.
Brad loves songwriting, and he feels like it’s what he is here to do, so whatever his following, he intends to continue writing and recording upbeat songs. To help us imagine a better world… one song at a time.
